The Division S Joint Installation Dinner ( JID ) on 1 August 2009, at Gurney Hydro Hotel, Batu Feringghi, Penang was our annual gala event -akin to the Hollywood's Oscar Awards Ceremony.
All seem to crane their necks to see " who's who " from the different clubs. From BATMC, the entire new term 2009/2010 exco members came in full force to be installed. If this is not enough, we also had our 3 past presidents, Sharene, Paul and Madam Ong to lend their support to the new team. WOW! Looks like only BATMC had such a good 103 % attendance!
The installation was carried out by calling upon all the same category of office bearers from different clubs of Division S. Starting with the SAAs to the Presidents, each taking their oaths and ends with a group photo session. All the office bearers showed their best "tootsie" smile. A hard time to choose one for a toothpaste advertisement.
When it came to the installation of the Presidents of the clubs. Our President, Mr Lim Chee Sheng walked non-challantly onto the stage little knowning that his team has a surprise in store for him. When he got to the mic, he asked " BATMC, would you take up the challenge with me?"
All of us stood up and in unison chorus the song..."We will follow you...." Obviously, he was taken aback by this unexpected well coordinated outburst and broke into his winsome smile. He later quipped " Hey guys, I wasn't expecting that from all of you! " Well Mr. President, guessed we have had enough practice in impromptu speech during the table topics?
Other happenings that worth mentioning are;
1) Table Games - Guess the singer of songs from the 60s to 90s. Congratulations to us.
BATMC bagged the 2nd prize. Thanks for the assortment of our members are from the oldies fan to the modern hiphop era.
2) Lucky draw -BATMC sitting at Table No 8 couldn't be more lucky as it seemed at least a member's number was called out in each series of the lucky draw.
3) The Dance-The event that stole our hearts !!!As a grand finale, the past and present Division S Governors were on stage to dance from chacha to Hippo Dance. At our table, we caught a video of Paul doing the hippo dance and the ladies doing Cha Cha. Suddenly, we became the centre of attraction. Led by our "little" Joseph, they dance up to the stage.
Truly, everyone were in a light and joyful mood that day, and not forgetting had belly full of the delightful 8 course dinner which includes the mouth watering satay ( sponsored by somebody?) It was enough for us to declare that we had a "funtastic" time. Yeah ! The photo and the videos will attest to it.
BATMC -oka The Paradise Club, is always exuberant in all her endeavours. We want to encourage members who missed it to be there next year. Go on, take up an exco role and be recognised in the next JID. Well, non-exco may also join in the camaraderie, no problem...
HEY! book a ticket for me...
